1. Do I have to join or enroll in College Homeroom to use its services?
Absolutely not! We have provided a free service for students to use without having to enroll or join College Homeroom. In addition, we require no personal information nor do we store your personal information for marketing purposes.
2. How do I share my classifieds in social networks like Facebook or Twitter?
You maybe able to get increased response to your classifieds by sharing collegehomeroom.com site with popular social network sites like Facebook, Twitter or Tumbler. Click on the "Login" or "Register" link to expand the Dashboard. Then click one of the appropiate social networking icon on the left side of the dashboard to share CHR!
3. How do I leave a comment?
Classifieds are not currently open to comments due to potential of abuse. Do let us know through the "Support > Contact Us" comment form if you feel user comments will be useful to your classified postings. We may re-enable comments section if majority of our users prefer that feature.
4. What is the rating system and how do I leave a rating?
The rating system will be available shortly once we have enough listings in the site to provide a useful comparison mechanism to our users.
5. How do I choose my college?
The state-college selection drop-downs are located in top-left corner of collegehomeroom.com website. First select your state from the "State" drop-down box. Then select your colleged from the "College" drop-down box. Remember all listings under category/sub-category will be specific to your selected state & college.
6. Why is my college not listed?
College Homeroom is a new service for the benefit of all students. Our mission is to expand to all colleges, universities, and graduate schools within the United States. Please keep in mind that we are working diligently to promptly add new schools every week. So keep checking back, it's only a matter of time before we get your school added.
7. How do I search for classifieds with specific topic?
The easiest and organized way to search for content in collegehomeroom.com is to select categories/subcategories by state/college. However, if you are only looking for classifieds with specific keywords you can use our "Search" functionality located on top-right corner of the website. Enter one or more keywords and click the 'Search' button to get a list of classifieds matching your keyword. The more specific keyword is the better chance you have of getting related result.

8. How do I post an ad?
To post an ad click on the "Post An Ad" button on the left hand side of the screen. Choose which category and/or subcategory that you want to post your ad in. Enter all relevant information you want people to see in the Title and Description box. Certain categories may ask for other information such as price, rent, course, etc. The only required pieces of information are a valid email address and a posting title. If you do not wish to release your email, select the "hide my email" box, and provide other contact information in your description. This will encode your email. Once you have completed all required fields, click "Post My Ad" at the bottom. Usually within 5 minutes an email will be sent from College Homeroom with 3 links where you can activate, edit, and delete your posting. In order for your posting to appear on College Homeroom, you must verify your posting and click "submit." You may also edit and activate your ad through the "edit" link. Simply click the "edit" link, change what information you want, and click "submit."
9. How long does my posting stay active?
All postings are active for 30 days before they are automatically deleted.
10. How much does posting an ad cost?
Posting on College Homeroom is absolutely free for students. However, students have the option of featuring their ad at the top of the listings page for an additional fee of $5 for 3 days and $10 for 7 days. If you choose not to feature your ad, your ad is FREE.
Housing Listings: Commercial (Businesses):
College Homeroom charges a small fee of $10 per brokered apartment/condo/townhouse/house listing and it is absolutely free for students to list. Each ad will stay posted for 30 days in which you may edit, modify, or alter the ad for the life of the listing at no additional cost. You have the option of featuring your ad at the top of the listings page at the additional cost of $10 for 3 days and $20 for 7 days.
You may only list one property listing per ad.
Businesses may not post under the student section of the Housing category. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in the deletion of your ad and/or permanent blockage of your IP address which will prevent you from posting with College Homeroom permanently.
11. How do I reply to a posting?
Most classifieds author prefer email communication and you will be able to contact them via the email link in the classified listing. However, in some cases the classified author may not want to receive email and an email addres is not shown. A user may provide other contact methods such as a phone number, address, fax, or website. Look for these other contact methods listed in the advertisement.
12. How do I edit or delete my ad?
You must be a registered user to add/edit or delete post in collegehomeroom.com . Login to your account in collegehomroom.com (Click the "Login" link under the "College" drop-down list in the top section). After successful login you will see your existing Postings. Moving your mouse over an existing Post shows the option to "Edit", "Quick Edit" or "Trash" (delete) the post.
13. How do I include pictures in my ad?
When posting an ad you may include a picture by clicking the "picture" icon in the Editor box. Maximum picture size must be under 2MB. After all relevant information has been added and pictures have been uploaded, make sure to "Publish" the post.
14. Why won't my pictures load?
Your picture or pictures may be too large. Please try using a smaller sized picture. Also ensure that your internet connection is working properly.
15. How often can I post an ad?
Please post no more than one ad in a 48 hour period for the same transaction. You may post an ad in a different category/subcategory or in the same category/subcategory if it involves different information or items. Users who spam post will have their ads removed and/or IP address blocked from posting.
16. What kind of ads are prohibited?
Please refer to the "Conduct" section under the Terms and Conditions of Use page located at the bottom of the College Homeroom homepage.
17. What can I do about abusive, harassing, or other prohibited ads?
If you find an ad that is abusive, offensive, harassing, or otherwise prohibited, you may report the ad to College Homeroom. Use the "Support" link from the top menu and then "Contact Us" link to reach the Contact Form. Include the following information - the college where the ad is located, the category/subcategory of the ad, the title of the ad, the date of the ad, the reason the ad should be removed, and any other relevant information to help us locate the ad. We will do our best to remove any ads that are prohibited.
18. What kind of job postings are PROHIBITED?
Our policies prohibit the following types of listings on our site:
Posting of any franchise, pyramid scheme, multi-level marketing, "club membership", distributorship or sales representative agency arrangement, or other business opportunity which requires an upfront or periodic payment, requires recruitment of other members, sub-distributors or sub-agents, or pays commissions only (except for postings that make clear that the available job pays commission only and clearly describes the product or service that the job seeker would be selling, in which case such postings may be permissible).
19. How many job ads may I post?
Post only one job per ad. If you have 5 different positions to fill, post 5 separate ads.

20. How do I feature my ad?
A student may feature an ad at the top of the listings page at a fee of $5 for 3 days and $10 for 7 days. When posting your ad, click the checkbox "Featured Listing" and then click the payment button that appears. This will popup the payment plan window where you will choose the appropiate price plan. You will be referred next to paypal payment gateway. Fill out all relevant information on the payment form and click the "Pay Now" button. College Homeroom accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover and payment from existing Paypal account.
Remember, once you pay for the featured ad there is no refund should you delete your ad before the expiration of your featured ad.
Once your feature ad days have expired, it will automatically be placed within the regular listings for the remainder of the 30 day ad period.
If you encounter any problems with making a payment or problems with posting your feature ad, please Contact us through the "Support > Contact Us" link. Please provide us with any relevant information addressing the nature of your concern. We will work diligently to correct the problem.
21. What forms of payment do you accept?
College Homeroom accepts Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. We also accept payment from existing Paypal accounts.
22. Is my payment secure?
Absolutely! Our online credit card payment forms are handled by PayPal and are encrypted using industry standard 128-bit Secure Socket Layer encryption. We do not keep your credit/debit information on our servers.

23. How do I register or Login to collegehomeroom.com?
Login to your account ("Login" link is toward top-right area of CHR website). If you are not a registered user then use the "Register" link instead.
24. How do I edit my personal information?
Login to your account ("Login" link is toward top-right area of CHR website). You can then edit your profile information as well as view/amange/add postings.
25. Is my profile information secure?
We do not share your profile information with any advertisers or any third-party without your expressed permission. You also have the option of not displaying your email address or any other contact information in your post by not entering any value for such fields when posting an advertisement.
